Self care is trending!

Self care checklist is one of the most searched topics online and is a concept that is trending!

By now we all know that self care is super important for our mental health and wellness – but what is it really?

It often gets portrayed a “book yourself in for a massage or pedicure” OR “get out for a guys night” – which it is – but it is much, much more than just getting a spa treatment or going out for brunch with friends.

Self care is all about cultivating an attitude that you matter, that you are an important person worthy of compassionate, kind, healthy treatment – throughout your day!

Self care means more than just booking a spa day!

Self care means treating yourself with kindness, looking after the needs of your body, mind and. spirit.

And doing this as a deliberate part of each day.

It’s as simple as giving yourself good healthy meals and taking time to sit down, eat and enjoy.

It’s being sure you are hydrated, that you look after your body – shower, trim your nails, keep your skin moisturized, get a hair cut that you like, choose clothing that fits, feels good and is your own authentic style.

It’s taking time to go for a walk, relaxing and doing things that give you joy and pleasure.

Self Care - Healing wounds and trauma

Sometimes it can be hard to really engage in self care because you might have a hidden belief that you are not worth it.

This old hidden belief can originate in childhood or can be the result of a traumatic event such as bullying or an unhealthy relationship.

It’s important to get support to help unravel hidden beliefs such as this that can stand in the way of self compassion, self esteem and self care.
