Turns out it was a marketing strategy created by Kentucky Fried Chicken. Very successful and very fun for all who saw it or heard about it from friends.
Apparently “Colonel Sanders” at the Blue Jays game has appeared previously at other sporting events as well. Just not so visible to Canadians as this appearance was.
The real Colonel Sanders has ties to Canada as well. He lived in Mississauga Ontario for several years setting up Canadian KFC franchises.
